This week we heard that two of our pupils have won awards from the Technology Teachers Association. We are delighted to announce that Finlay Cameron was awarded the prize for National 5 Graphic Communication, and David Fleming was awarded the prize for Higher Graphic Communication. We are really pleased for Finlay and David, as well as Miss Anderson who teaches both boys.

Celebrating Graphic Communication Success

Our Senior Graphic Communication pupils have been working hard since the change of timetable on 2 graphic design projects which were showcased on Tuesday afternoon.

To begin the National 4/5 Graphic Communication course, pupils were set a re-branding task focussing on festival branding. Pupils have spent the last 3 weeks researching a given festival, developing a promotional poster and creating design ideas for merchandise.  The results look absolutely amazing!

Each year the Higher Graphic Communication class are given a live brief to develop their skills and provide an authentic graphic design experience.  This year, the pupils were commissioned to design and develop a prospectus for the Design and Technology department. The prospectus will include information about the subjects on offer, possible career paths and success stories as well as other interesting information surrounding the Design and Technology topics. The target market for the prospectus are pupils transitioning to Nairn Academy from other schools, current pupils, parents, teachers and other staff members.  The standard of work produced by all pupils was excellent and we are looking forward to seeing what they create in the coming year.

Well done to all pupils who took part and thank you to those who came and supported them.  It was a positive experience for those involved.BLOG - SHOWCASE

Engineering Challenge Winners!

Yesterday, some S1 & S2 pupils from Nairn Academy took part in the Jacob’s Secondary Engineering Challenge.  Their challenge was to design and build a crane which picked up an object and moved it to another position at a 90 degree angle.  They then had to present and test their models on the day.  All of the boys involved in this competition worked incredibly hard all year to design their models.

Big congratulations to The Green Team – Daniel Male, Struan MacLennan and Callum Breathet who came 1st and won a Waterstones gift card each.

Nairn Academy Spreads Message of Equality

rock challengeLast night we competed in Rock Challenge 2019 against other schools across Highland.  We are incredibly proud of all of the students and how they conducted themselves throughout the day, leading them to win The Spirit of Rock Challenge award.

We want to ensure we can continue the message of equality and all of the hard work put in over the past year can be viewed by all.  Next time you are in the school come along and see some of our set!
